HSA (Latin America)
La Alianza Social Continental – ASC, es un movimiento integrado por organizaciones sociales, redes temáticas y organizaciones sectoriales de todo el hemisferio Americano, desde Canadá hasta Chile. Se conformó para intercambiar información, definir estrategias y promover acciones conjuntas. Su acción se centró en enfrentar la propuesta de creación del Área de Libre Comercio de las Américas, ALCA y todas las diferentes modalidades del llamado libre comercio y de allí se concluyó la necesidad de buscar un modelo de desarrollo alternativo y democrático, fortalecer los movimientos sociales, trabajar por el bienestar de la población y el conjunto de derechos reconocidos en los diversos instrumentos internacionales vigentes, todo con miras a promover la justicia social y transformar las políticas de integración en el hemisferio.
Las actividades que desarrolla la ASC buscan estar en concordancia con las agendas de las organizaciones sociales y el movimiento popular del hemisferio americano. De esta forma, la ASC se convierte en un escenario de trabajo conjunto de carácter multi-sectorial, cuyo objetivo es integrar una agenda social continental, con unos ejes temáticos diversos: el libre comercio, la integración, la criminalización de la protesta social, la militarización y las violaciones a los derechos humanos, el problema financiero y de la deuda externa, la soberanía alimentaria, entre otros.![]()
